Thank you Rav Baruch and Rebbetzin Debra Rubanowitz and family!

Thank you Rav Baruch and Rebbetzin Debra Rubanowtiz and family!

After months of difficult deliberations, it is with mixed feelings that the Vaad of Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun is announcing that we are searching for a new Rav to lead the kehilla, as was decided in our last general meeting.

We want to express our immense appreciation to Rav Baruch and Rebbetzin Debra Rubanowitz and family. About five years ago, KSY was born and grew under the nurturing care of the Rubanowitzes. They have invested countless hours, significant resources and tremendous amounts of love and energy and attention to help the kehilla grow and develop, including weekly trips from Yerushalayim to RBS for Shabbosim and various shiurim for years on end, celebrating in our simchas, hosting many kiddushim in their home, being incredibly available to answer questions and give advice, and even moving to RBS for a year and a half to be closer to the kehilla. We wish them lots of success b'kol maaseh yedaihem.

As a token of our appreciation, we are assembling a memento book to present to the Rav and Rebbetzin. We request that all members and friends who have enjoyed their relationship with the Rubanowitz's during their time at KSY prepare a letter expressing what they have meant to their lives, ideally including a family picture. Your contribution (ideally in electronic form, but also hard copy is acceptable) should be submitted to R. Amatsia Spigler at (m3@barak-online.net or 054-535-6093) by September 22nd. We hope to present the book to the Rubanowitzes during the upcoming Yomim Tovim.

The Rubanowitzes can be reached at 02-500-2971, 050-419-4172 or rband@bezeqint.net

Scholar In Residence

Join Rav Yaacov Haber and KSY for an extraordinary Shabbaton on Shabbos Parshas Ki Seitzei (12/13 Sep)!

Rav Yaacov Haber, renowned author, lecturer and scholar, will be joining Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun as the Scholar in Residence for Parshas Ki Seitzei. Rav Haber will give deroshos Friday night and Shabbos morning, a shiur on Shabbos afternoon, and host a communal Seudah Shlishis. In order to help us better estimate attendance to the meal, please contact Avraham Nadell at anadell@nadell.org or 02-992-4468 if you are interested in attending.

Rav Yaacov Haber is a close talmid and musmach of Rav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg, shlit"a, and learned for several years with Rav Yaakov Hillel shlit"a and in the Brisker yeshiva.

Rav Haber served as Rav in kehillos around the world for over three decades, most lately succeeding Rav Berel Wein as the Rav of Kehilas Bais Torah in Monsey, NY until he made aliyah with his family to Bayit Vegan five years ago.

Rav Haber served as the National Director of Education for the OU and in that capacity revitalized community learning throughout North America with his Pardes Project and other innovative programs.

Prior to this post, Rav Haber made an indelible mark on the Australian, and in particular Melbourne, Jewish communities. As one of the heads of the Lakewood Kollel in Melbourne, Rav Haber was instrumental in leading hundreds of talmidim to take their yiddishkeit to new levels.

Rav Haber is currently a Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Orchos Chaim and is founder and president of Torahlabs, which creates educational materials for mechanchim and kiruv workers around the world in both Hebrew and English. Rav Haber is an accomplished author in both Hebrew and English, a gifted speaker, posek, teacher, and a unique source of Eitza and inspiration.

Rav Haber is a leading candidate to take over the position of Rav of the Kehilla and join us for the Yomim Noraim. The vaad urges all members and friends of the kehilla to attend this special Shabbos!

A general meeting is set to follow soon after the Shabbaton with Rav Haber on Sep 16th to vote on the position of Rav of KSY.

More details of the GM will be forthcoming as the date approaches.

Please note that names that have not been updated for more than 2 months will not be announced. You can update a name by notifying the KSY Secretary or by logging into your account and editing the older Cholim records.

Protecting the Gan

A friendly reminder to the Kehilla: The toys and fixtures in the gan are not the property of the Kehilla.

  • Please don't allow you children to play with the toys within the gan.
  • Please be careful with all the children's projects on the walls.
  • Please do not play in or on the guardhouse in the front of the gan.
  • The children are permitted to play on the toy structures in the sand area. But the Rav would like to remind the kehilla that the children may not dig in the sand. A parent should prevent his child of any age from digging in the sand on Shabbos. Every adult should attempt to stop any child from digging as long as the child is old enough to understand that there are some things that are forbidden to do on Shabbos

Rabbi Daniel Gefen will continue his series of shiurim for women on the topic Hilchos Brachos Lemaaseh. The shiur will be held 20:30 each Wed. night at 82/17 Nachal Dolev (Mrs. Burnley's Home).
