Holiday Season Thank Yous
As we have now finished the "holiday season", the kehilla would like to thank all those that helped make it happen:
- KSY Gabboim: Shaul Behr, Yossi Klein, and Yitzchok Lavi.
- Elisha Kutliroff for arranging the wonderful space at Shaalei Torah for the Yomim Noraim.
- Seth and Ruti Aronstam for hosting the highly successful communal Neilas Hachag
- Gila Green for making sure that the Neilas Hachag was organized.
Mazel Tov to our Choson Torah and Choson Bereishis
Choson Torah was given to Ilya Grinberg because Torah is his "true passion" which he learns with dedication and mesirus nefesh, and delights in sharing his vast knowledge with the kehilla.
Choson Bereishis was given to Yitzchok Lavi, who works tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring that the physical aspects of the kehilla are all in place (including the setup and breakdown of the shul), so that when we walk in on erev Shabbos, the shul is ready for us.
Both Chosonim invite the kehilla to a kiddush - see below
Shabbos Kiddush
Our two Chosonim, Ilya Grinberg and Yitzchok Lavi, invite the kehilla to a kiddush in their honor this Shabbos after davening.
Why not sponsor your own Shabbos Kiddush in honor of a family simcha, a visiting relative, or just to say "Thank you" to Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun. A basic Kiddush is just 350nis. The deluxe version (with potato and yerushalmi kugels) is just 500nis. KSY tries to schedule a kiddush on the first Shabbos of each month, but you can sponsor one for any available Shabbos (see this link for the KSY calendar). Just contact the KSY secretary for details.
Meet The Rebbetzin Melave Malka
A "Meet the Rebbetzin" Melave Malka for the women will take place IY"H Motza'ei Shabbos Parshat Noah (1-Nov-08) at the home of Heidi Bergenfeld, Nahar Hayarden 82 (Bnei Beitcha neighborhood) at 20:00. For more details please contact Gila Green.
Looking for a Sefer Torah
Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun has two Sifrei Torah on long-term loan. Unfortunately, the owner of one of these Torahs has requested it back. We are therefore in need of another Sefer Torah.
If you know of a Torah looking for a home, either on a permanent or long-term basis, please contact a gabbai or any of the Vaad members as soon as possible.
Gemora Chaburah
A gemora chaburah is in the process of forming. The proposed format is for chaburah chavrusas to meet approximately three times per week, covering approximately three amudim per week, and a shiur once per week from Rabbi Haber. If you are interested in joining please speak with/email Danny Wajnblum danielw@shivteiyeshurun.org.
Be a member of the Kehilla - not just one of the tzibur
With the entry of the new Jewish year 5769, we are also ushering in the new Kehillas
Shivtei Yeshurun membership year. Membership dues are the primary resource that
enables us to provide the various services to the members of our kehilla. Our official
membership year is from September to August. Therefore, the membership for most
current members is up for renewal.
Show your support for the direction that
our kehilla is growing in and consider becoming a member. Dues are 140₪ per month
and can be paid in installments. Please contact our treasurer Avraham Nadell at
anadell@nadell.org to join - or stay part
of - our kehilla.
KSY Family
Family Simcha? Good news to share? Please share it with your kehilla! Send in your announcements to secretary@ksy.org.il or call 999-8923 for inclusion in this newsletter.
Choleh List & KSY Database Online
In order to make the mi shebeirach for cholim a little more efficient, KSY now maintains a list of cholim via the internet. Current Names on the list can be seen at http://www.ksy.org.il/cholim.asp. Please note that names that have not been updated for more than 2 months will not be announced. You can update a name by notifying the KSY Secretary or by logging into your account and editing the older Cholim records.
Protecting the Gan
A friendly reminder to the Kehilla: The toys and fixtures in the gan are not the property of the Kehilla.
- Please don't allow your children to play with the toys within the gan.
- Please be careful with all the children's projects on the walls.
- Please do not play in or on the guardhouse in the front of the gan.
- The children are permitted to play on the toy structures in the sand area. But the Rav would like to remind the kehilla that the children may not dig in the sand. A parent should prevent his child of any age from digging in the sand on Shabbos. Every adult should attempt to stop any child from digging as long as the child is old enough to understand that there are some things that are forbidden to do on Shabbos

Nedavos & Other Donations to KSY
KSY would like to thank the following people for their donations during the past week
- 150nis - anonymous
Thank you for all those who bid on aliyos for Rosh
Hashana and Yom Kippur.
Your support provides critical funding for the shul.
Please consider allowing us to announce your name when thanking you for your donation. Public donations tend to encourage others to follow your lead when they see the efforts of others.
Reminder: Dues at KSY are 140 shekels per month. Please help the Kehilla by keeping your membership payments current. Please contact Avraham Nadell, the KSY Treasurer, with questions about the status of your account.
Did you know? Everyone who is called to the Torah on Shabbos or Yom Tov gets one free mi sheberach. The Gabbai will then offer the Oleh l'Torah an optional 2nd mi sheberach. If one accepts the Gabbai’s offer, the custom in our Kehilla is to obligate oneself to make a modest donation. Please turn to any of the gabboim if you should have a question about this.
Reminder: KSY can accept US Dollar payments with a credit card via American Friends of Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun. See the donation page online: www.afoksy.com/donate
