Rav Haber Motzei Shabbos Shiurim: New Heights in Tefilah

Rav Haber will continue his series of shiruim on improving the power of your davening. The series will examine the entire structure of Shacharis from a kabbalistic, halachic and mussar perspective. Understand Tefilah as you never did before!

The fourth shiur will be this Motza'ei Shabbos (13-Dec-08) at 20:30, and will be held at Shivtei Yeshurun (Nachal Dolev 10a). Part one of the series will be 5 weeks long. Each shiur will be self contained and cover a discrete part of the davening. Therefore, if you can't make all the shiurim, you will still benefit from the series. The shiurim are open for men and women. This week's topic is: Krias Shma; Oneness of Hashem.

The first shiurim were huge successes with over 40 men and women in attendance. All shiurim are available in MP3 format at our website www.ksy.org.il. We expect to post source sheets in the near future.

Gemora Chaburah

It's not too late to join the Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun gemora chaburah! Chaburah chavrusas meet on Monday night at 20:45 and Friday morning at 08:45 at Ateres Shaul (1 Shvil Hagichon, corner Dolev), covering approximately three amudim per week on Maseches Avoda Zara.

Rabbi Haber gives a b'iyun shiur (halacha and aggada) Wed. nights at 20:45. The shiurim are available in MP3 format on the KSY audio page at www.ksy.org.il/audio.asp.
The chabura has its own new forum for discussion on the maseches at: http://forum.ksy.org.il/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=12

If you are interested in joining please speak with/email Rav Haber or Danny Wajnblum. Send an email to danielw@shivteiyeshurun.org if you would like a copy of the Marei Mekomos.

KSY Family

Family Simcha? Good news to share? Please share it with your kehilla! Send in your announcements to secretary@ksy.org.il or call 999-8923 for inclusion in this newsletter.

Be a member of the Kehilla - not just one of the tzibur

There are many wonderful things happening with the kehilla under Rav Haber, with new energy, shiurim and activities – and new members. Please help us grow – and grow with us by becoming a member. Dues are 140S62; per month and can be paid in installments. Please contact our treasurer Avraham Nadell at anadell@nadell.org to join - or stay part of - our kehilla.

Choleh List & KSY Database Online

In order to make the mi shebeirach for cholim a little more efficient, KSY now maintains a list of cholim via the internet. Current Names on the list can be seen at http://www.ksy.org.il/cholim.asp. Please note that names that have not been updated for more than 2 months will not be announced. You can update a name by notifying the KSY Secretary or by logging into your account and editing the older Cholim records.

Shabbos Kiddush

The kehilla is invited to a Kiddush next Shabbos after davening. This Kiddush is sponsored anonymously by a member of the kehilla.

Why not sponsor your own Shabbos Kiddush in honor of a family simcha, a visiting relative, or just to say "Thank you" to Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun.  A basic Kiddush is just 350nis.  The deluxe version (with potato and yerushalmi kugels) is just 500nis. KSY tries to schedule a kiddush on the first Shabbos of each month, but you can sponsor one for any available Shabbos (see this link for the KSY calendar).  Just contact the KSY secretary for details.

Nedavos & Other Donations to KSY

KSY would like to thank the following people for their donations during the past week

  • 71S62; - Anonymous (KSY Pushka Box)

Please consider allowing us to announce your name when thanking you for your donation. Public donations tend to encourage others to follow your lead when they see the efforts of others.

Did you know? Everyone who is called to the Torah on Shabbos or Yom Tov gets one free mi sheberach. The Gabbai will then offer the Oleh l'Torah an optional 2nd mi sheberach. If one accepts the Gabbai’s offer, the custom in our Kehilla is to obligate oneself to make a modest donation. Please turn to any of the gabboim if you should have a question about this.

For information on Israel tax receipts, please contact Avraham Nadell, KSY Treasurer.

Reminder: KSY can accept US Dollar payments with a credit card via American Friends of Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun. See the donation page online: www.afoksy.com/donate
