Rabbi Yaacov Haber's inspirational series on Tefillah resumes with a NEW five-part series entitled The Shmoneh Esrei: Standing Before Hashem. Rav Haber delves deeply into many basic halachic & hashkafic tenets. Improve the way you daven forever!

Gemora Chaburah

It's not too late to join the Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun gemora chaburah! Chaburah chavrusas meet on Monday night at 20:45 and Friday morning at 08:45 at Ateres Shaul (1 Shvil Hagichon, corner Dolev), covering approximately three amudim per week on Maseches Avoda Zara.

Rabbi Haber gives a b'iyun shiur (halacha and aggada) Wed. nights at 20:45. The shiurim are available in MP3 format on the KSY audio page at www.ksy.org.il/audio.asp.

KSY on the Move

Mazel Tov to the Seltzer Family on the upcoming Bar Mitzvah of Mordechai Eliyahu Seltzer. In order to accommodate the expected larger-than-normal tzibur, davening for Shacharis (only) on Parshas Vayechi (10-Jan-09) will take place in the RBS-A Matnas on Nachal Dolev.

Special Tefillos for the IDF

As per Rav Haber, Tehilim 83 should be said every morning after davening followed by Acheinu Beis Yisroel. No Mi Shebeirach should be said. This does not need to be said pasuk by pasuk – it can just be said like the Shir shel yom. In the mean time this should not be said on Shabbos.

Choleh List & KSY Database Online

In order to make the mi shebeirach for cholim a little more efficient, KSY now maintains a list of cholim via the internet. Current Names on the list can be seen at http://www.ksy.org.il/cholim.asp. Please note that names that have not been updated for more than 2 months will not be announced. You can update a name by notifying the KSY Secretary or by logging into your account and editing the older Cholim records.

Did you know? Everyone who is called to the Torah on Shabbos or Yom Tov gets one free mi sheberach. The Gabbai will then offer the Oleh l'Torah an optional 2nd mi sheberach. If one accepts the Gabbai’s offer, the custom in our Kehilla is to obligate oneself to make a modest donation. Please turn to any of the gabboim if you should have a question about this.

Building Committee News

In an effort to alleviate the at or over-capacity numbers of attendees over Shabbos and in order that the kehilla should have a single continually usable structure for its daily use, Rabbi Haber, the vaad and building committee have been looking into alternative accommodations for the kehilla for the short term, available ASAP. A number of meetings toward this goal have been held and are currently planned with various building professionals and politicians. If you would like to know more or would like to help in some way speak to Danny Wajnblum, Simon Synett or Doron Green.
